Michael Radic

Michael is an educator and counsellor. Michael values authenticity, empathy, sustainable pace, deep and honest discussion, mercy, and the opportunity to start again. These values are a result of his training, work experience, personality, and history.

Michaels family history has been shaped by defending values. Michael’s Croatian grandfather and relatives were leaders who were killed for helping people and advocating for democracy. Michael’s father immigrated to Australia and married Michaels mother. Michael’s father had a car accident that resulted in brain damage and this, combined with losing his fathers guidance, resulted in a loss of parenting and relational skills that impacted the whole family.

Michael values vulnerability and acknowledges his mistakes. Michael has responded to this by exploring meaning, faith and spirituality. This exploration changed his beliefs habits, and relationship dynamics and consolidated his personality.

Michaels personality is quiet and reserved but he will defend core values. Michael is an innovative problem solver and creative thinker. He is an excellent listener, displays compassion and will go to great lengths to improve the lives of other people. These traits/values have been used in his career.

Michael’s career has focused on education and counselling. Michael is registered with the Australian Counselling Association and has over 20 years of experience. Michael completed a B.Ed (hons) in 1996 while working with homeless young people. After Graduating he was employed by Education Queensland as a teacher. Michael completed a M.Ed (School Guidance and Counselling) in 1999 and worked in roles including Behaviour Consultant, Guidance Officer (behaviour, school based and regional ) and Head of Department Student Services. Michael completed a GradDipArts gaining a greater understanding of leadership and formation dynamics in 2015. In 2019 Michaels younger brother died of cancer and he took long service in 2020. In 2021 Michaels started the Fraser Coast Counselling and Life Coaching service.

Michael is married to Quezia and has 7 children from his previous relationship. Michael and Quezia rely on ongoing communication, forgiveness, understanding, empathy, and shared decision making in their relationship. Four of the children are school aged and are learning skills and attitudes that were lost due to generational trauma that started in the 1940s. Michael believes that there is hope, people can change, marriage and family can work and a new way is possible.
